Day 1: Transfer from Kampala or Entebbe to Kasese for overnight.
Following breakfast, transportation will be arranged to collect you from either the Airport or Guest House in order to commence you3 days climbing mount Rwenzori expedition to Kasese. The duration of the drive is approximately 8 hours. You will make a brief stop in Mubende to have lunch, and then continue your drive to Kasese where you will spend the night at a hotel in the region, as you get ready for the trekking activity the following day.
DAY 2: Transfer to Sine Camp
You will start your hike from the base of the mountain to begin the climb up to Sine Hut, which is located at an elevation of 2,680 meters. You will stay a night at this location. The journey commences at the base of the valley and proceeds through the towering trees of the Afro Montane Forest Zone. It then ascends gradually, offering abundant opportunities to observe various bird species and the possibility of encountering blue monkeys darting away amidst the forest. Occasionally, visitors may observe groups of 15 to 20 Colobus monkeys, characterized by their black and white fur, as they gracefully move among the upper branches of trees. The L’Hoest monkey, a significant symbol in Bukonzo culture, is rarely observed. These monkeys are protected due to the authority of the King or Omusinga. Additionally, you may occasionally hear the calls of wild chimpanzees in the vicinity. The area boasts a diverse range of plant species, including forest trees, bamboo thickets, low shrubs, flowers, mushrooms, and an abundance of moss and lichen-covered vines hanging from the big trees, creating a captivating visual experience. Enock’s Falls are just a mere 300 meters away from Sine Hut, providing an excellent chance to take a magnificent screensaver to preserve your memories. Sine Camp, located at an elevation of 2,596 meters, offers wooden cottages nestled amidst towering forest trees on a slender ridge. From this vantage point, you can appreciate the exquisite Afro Montane forest and marvel at a magnificent waterfall cascading over distant rocks. Individuals who are physically healthy and desire to continue to Kalalama Camp, situated at an elevation of 3,134 meters, are permitted to do so. In addition to the breathtaking scenery, this option allows for additional time at Mutinda Camp, where one can ascend to the Mutinda Lookout, located at an altitude of 3,975 meters.
DAY 3: Descend back to the base of the mountain.
After having breakfast, descend the mountain and commence your journey back to Kampala Entebbe in order to conclude the3 days climbing mount Rwenzori and catch your departing flight.
